How did we create a wobbler that caught over 30 fish in one day?!
How did we create a wobbler that caught over 30 fish in one day?!
It was at the turn of July and August. The hot summer is far from letting up and the water levels in the rivers are low. There is plenty of food to feed fish. We saw schools of bleaks swimming around. It's a real Eldorado for predators, and very difficult conditions for anglers to outwit the fish.
The last two trips were not optimistic. Our fishing grounds were a medium sized river and a reservoir on the same river. With two full day trips there are several small fish that are very difficult to catch. We tried different baits and methods. We fished primarily with walk-the-dog plugs, subsurface plugs and vibrating plugs. The fish are interested in them, they “nibble” on the bait and hit it with their mouths closed, but we cannot catch larger specimens.
On the second of these trips, Tomek's friend Piotr joins us.
He caught two nice fish in two hours and we are totally shocked that he kicked our asses so easily!
The bait Piotr used to catch his fish moved gently and swayed back and forth.
Definitely quieter than our aggressive baits that make more noise in the water.
As he returns home after this defeat, an idea arises in Tomek's mind.
In 3 days we will be on the water with the prototype.
After 10 minutes, the only prototype is caught by a fish (most likely a pike biting the bait).
We already know we are close.
We'll be back on the water in a week. This time we have several parts and are ready for some great testing!
The wobbler is not big. It is 6.5cm long and weighs only 6g. However, it flies perfectly on a delicate set. Reaching 60-70 meters is no problem. The colors are also subtle. Pearl belly, silver scales and turquoise back.
The work of the wobbler is very realistic. When driving, it rocks gently from side to side. If you speed up the reeling of the line, it will run to the side like a frightened fish.
When it falls, it shimmers with its silver sides, but the best behavior is seen when you jerk the tip - then the wobbler escapes to the surface of the water and makes a small wave - this particularly provokes the fish to bite!
Due to the fact that it is quite light, it will not get stuck in a shallow river.
There is no such thing as the perfect summer bait?
What happens on the first day of testing exceeds our most sincere expectations. We catch several dozen fish ranging in size from 40 to 75 cm. In addition, we recorded around 30-40 fish showing interest in the bait. About a dozen fish were unhooked during the fight.
I can't remember such a good day of fishing. The anglers we met on the water had no results. An older man walking past us says: "Gentlemen, there is nothing to throw, they don't react to anything."
At this point Tomek and I have over 10 fish per head. We just nodded and looked at each other knowingly. At the end of the day we catch a few more fish. We don't want this day to end!
When we get home, we wonder how it happened that lately it was very difficult to catch at least 1-2 small fish, and today both of our hands hurt because we caught even more fish?
The second question that came to our mind was whether this was a one-time incident or will future expeditions confirm that this bait is a real killer?
Subsequent trips confirmed that the fish liked the new wobbler, which we called the MOSKALIQ 65, and that we caught more specimens with it.
We enlarged it to a model that is 90mm long and weighs 13g and the fish are biting it great too!
Since then we have always started our asp fishing with this bait! We think that many more beautiful fish will be caught with the MOSKALIQ wobbler.
Soon you will also see its extraordinary effectiveness!
